﹛﹛﹛﹛﹛This article studies the fictional and critical writings of the Chinese Malaysian writer/critic Ng Kim Chew Often regarded as an ※enfant terrible§ in Taiwanese and Malaysian literary and academic circles, Ng has nevertheless proven that, mischievous and defiant postures aside, he is among the most perceptive and rigorous creators and critics of modern Chinese diasporic literature. The article highlights four aspects of Ng*s writings: his inquiry into ※diasporic imaginary§ and ※narrativity§; his dialogic of ※fictional pathology§ and ※fictional ethics§; his interpretation of an overseas ※obsession with China§; his deliberation on the parameters of fin-de-si豕cle Chinese writing.
