This research presented a systematic comparison of social strata between Aboriginals and Hans and investigated the interactive mechanism between education and occupation for the Aboriginals in Taiwan. Based on NSC's "The Changing of Inquiry Plan in Taiwan Area", the present study analyzed the data under a nation-wide sample, and the percentage and mean analysis of family background variables were carried out to realize the basic background of Aboriginals and Hans. We controlled the background variables and proceeded with the regression analysis. Education and first job were the intervention factors. We expected to probe into the real factors that affected the first jobs of Aboriginals and Hans and realize the cause-effect mechanism that attributed to the different strata between Aboriginals and Hans. The major results were as follows: (一) Comparing with Hans, Aboriginals received shorter duration in education (whether parents' or his/her own education). (二) Level of education was the crucial factor to the job market, which was in turn the weakness for the Aboriginals. It was disadvantageous to their job obtainment. (三) Effect of background to occupation are mainly through education and toward job. This outcome was coherent with previous research. However, the present study proposed that Aboriginals presented negative effects no matter in background, education, first job or current occupation. In other words, since education was the major factor to the occupational attainment, it's apprehensive that Aboriginals' weak position in education will make them get the lower hands in job-seeking.
