本文旨在闡述出版品國際交換的重要性並藉由比較國內、外進行出版品國際交換的成效來呼籲國內業界重視。文章依序介紹出版品國際交換之意涵、價值、重要性、目的，國立臺灣博物館出版品國際交換工作之沿革、資源、成效等現況、國內圖書館出版品國際交換之概況、各國圖書館國際交換之現況及比較我國與各國圖書館出版品國際交換之差異。總結提出唯有健全內部、注重雙向交流、講求研究風氣及培養人才，始能提昇出版品國際交換的活力，最後並建議改變圖書館評鑑方式，應以該館能否確實迎合世界潮流的新經管理念來推動新型圖書館的運作為標準。
The article points out that International exchange program does not only provide a mutually beneficial avenue for participating institutions to develop their collections but also facilitate the acquisition of materials which might be unobtainable, in addition to making an extensive use of exchanges for acquiring foreign materials. While discussing the meaning, value, importance, and the purpose of the International exchange program, we have handled successfully through the efforts of the Taiwan Museum staff. The article also states about the National Taiwan Museum International publication evolution, resources, current achievements, and comparsion domestic library and global library on International publication exchange program. A successful exchange program depends upon an adequate infrastructure, bilateral communication, research situation, and the active ability of faculty members. Changing the library authentication methods into the needs of the electronic technological age is the future trend.
