本文討論動補「得」字結構的發展過程以及形式變遷。第七到第十世紀（唐代）為「得」字結構形成的第一階段。當時有兩種源於南北朝的「得」字詞組各自演變。第十世紀前後，兩種詞組分別衍生的「V得-C」開始基於外形而混同，進而引發「得」字詞組合流，第十二世紀前（宋代）動補「得」字結構遂告成立，是為第二階段。動補「得」字結構在宋代有五種主要形式。明清時期這些形式順勢演變，互見消長。縱觀整體的發展趨勢：唐宋歷經結構劇變，導致新形式不斷湧現，結構分支趨繁；明清發生一連串的取代、淘汰，形成分支簡化，結構轉趨穩定。

The evolution of the V-de-C construction, a variation of the Chinese V-C construction, can be traced back to the 7th-10th centuries, when two de- phrases of different orign split through context-induced reinterpretation, and meanwhile, merge altogether due to the historical trend of compounding and syntactic reanalysis. It brings about five major types and three minor types of de- phrases by the 12th century. These types then undergo a series of historical changes, including replacements, deletions and further merges. Subsequently, only two types in the form of V-de-C survive into modern-day Mandarin.
