This paper investigates the inventory and logistic interactive relationship, and deeply look into the characters of computer industry and its implementation status of built-to-Order (BTO) by computer simulation. We build up the simulation model of the supply chain to evaluate the effect on key parts and finished goods while the firm adopts BTO model. Three models are constructed: (1) traditional BTF model, (2) BTO with oversea warehouse, (3) BTO with oversea assembly factory. The simulation shows that BTO has on significant effect on inventory of key parts, But the inventory of finished goods in model 2 is much higher than the other twos. The delivery lead time declines from Model 1 around 9-11 weeks originally to 1-2 weeks after BTO. Model 1 and 3 have better performance on the turn-over period of parts. Daily adjustment can react faster, decline the inventory level and its fluctuation. If market demand increases sharply, model 3 can react better, and mange inventory better. The study results can provide reference for local firms making distribution strategy, and promoting their competence in the global market.
