     《哈姆雷》(Hamlet)的劇中人物從國王、廷臣、到演員、掘墓人都有;主線以外另設副線,大戲之中涵括小戲。結構多元,語言層次複雜,《哈姆雷》正是劇中角色波龍尼(Polonius)戲劇分類中那「無所不包的戲文」("poem unlimited")。本文首先簡單介紹莎士比亞擅長的無韻詩(blank verse),再選出<<哈姆雷>>劇中若干片段,檢視莎士比亞這齣戲在語言方面的成就,特別著意於語言與戲劇的緊密結合。討論的內容包括戲劇氣氛的建立、人物刻劃與修辭、主題的呈現、著名的獨白、文字遊戲、對比的詩歌形式、繁複的散文風格等。
