回顧文獻，陰道痙攣症之治療以陰道擴張法最為重要，即以手指或特製之擴張器(dilator)進入陰道，開始以小號擴張器或一隻手指漸漸協助擴張陰道之治療方式早有記載。但當病患無法接受自己或性伴侶的手指協助擴張時，性愛輔助器(假陽具)則可發揮莫大功效。 本文報告一位27歲女性為例，大學畢業，與31歲丈夫結婚一年半，因無法成功完成性交而致不孕，經診斷為陰道痙攣症，為生育目的而前來性心理衛生特別門診求治。治療過程中因阻抗與無法接受自己及丈夫的手指協助擴張陰道，經治療者建議改用假陽具進而成功擴張陰道。並在與丈夫練習過程中，丈夫陰莖進入陰道的4-5cm射精而「意外」成功懷孕。本文對女性性功能障礙治療工具應用的相關議題有所討論。

This report presents a case of female sexual dysfunction with primary vaginismus and secondary infertility. The patient is a 27 years-old school teacher, married to a 31 years-old engineer for 1.5 years. The application of sexual aids, such as lubricants and dilators (artificial phalli of various sizes), during the process of dual sex therapy for this couple, turns our to be very helpful. Relevant issues concerning about the clinical usage of sexual aids within the context of Chinese culture are addressed.
