受到電腦與網際網路科技影響，數位圖書館的研究與計畫蓬勃發展，但其中需要結合大量不同領域的人員參與從事，面對這樣日新月異不斷進步的工作與研究，需要適當的數位圖書館員才可勝任，這些數位圖書館員需要什麼樣的能力？數位圖書館的教育與訓練現況為何？是否足以培育適當的人才？數位圖書館課程的規劃與設計原則為何？針對上述的問題，本文旨在探研數位圖書館課程的規劃與設計，首先，探討數位圖書館的意涵，其次，研究數位圖書館員所需要的能力，以及檢視數位圖書館教育與訓練現況，並針對我國與美國圖書資訊學系所開設的數位圖書館課程，以個案研究與網站內容分析方法，析論中美數位圖書館課程設計的原則與內容、開課層級以及開授方式，最後、總結與提出建議。
The Digital Library is emerging as an important area of research and education for information science, computer science and a number of other related disciplines. It is necessary to have a lot of professionals participate in Digital Library research and development. This article mainly discusses Digital Library education and how to design related courses. It uses research methods of case studies and web content analysis and conducts a survey of digital library courses provided in the United States and Taiwan. The article makes conclusions and suggestions on course content, level of programs, and teaching methods of Digital Library courses.
