  旨在說明音韻學應用在臨床的歷史已由特徵區分理論、標準生成音韻學、自然音韻學,演變至新近的非線性理論,治療口齒不清的方法也由過去以音素為單位,進步至改善某一類音或某一音韻使用歷程的改變,並藉此討論構音障礙應正名為構音/音障礙之必要性。
