Patents can be served as a very good criterion to evaluate national science and technology competitiveness. We can evaluate national science and technology competitiveness from the aspect of patentometrics by using patent-based indicators, including number of patents, percentage of patent growth, number of invention patents, number of citing patents, number of cited patents, current impact index, science linkage, and technology cycle time. Those indicators offer a good way to evaluate the science and technology competitiveness of one country not only quantitatively but also qualitatively.
