The purpose of this study was to analyze the compound skill performances of world-class table tennis players. Videotapes of a total of twenty-eight single matches involving twenty elite male players at different tournaments from 1999 to 2000 were collected and analyzed. A descriptive and stepwise regression statistical analysis was used to calculate win-lose performances. Results showed that among specific skills, the serve-attack forehand side was superior in score-rate, while the rally ability forehand side was used most often. The most representative compound skills were selected and ranked as follows: receive-attack at forehand side, rally ability at backhand side, rally ability at forehand side, serve-attack at forehand side and receive-attack at backhand side.
