Cheng Chin-Wen (1932- ) has been writing for 45 years continuously, until today, he is still writing stories about life. He has published short stories close to 200 pieces, other like novels, creative tales, criticism and translation works for Chekhov, Anton Pavlovich, Pushkin, Aleksendr, Kawabata Yasunali, Nazume Sauseki, and Lu Her-Roo in Japan occupancy. His achievement in literature not only attracts the attentions and appraises worldwide, but also receives numerous awards. This thesis is trying to analyze the relationship between Cheng's short stories and the Chekhov's, especially in his inspiration by Chekhov's descriptive skill and thought of Arts, using Cheng's works as the subject to discover the essence of his novels.
