本研究之目的在探討壘球投手投球能力與比賽勝負間之關係，期能提供某些訊息給教練們作參考。本研究所謂之投球能力包括比賽時投手所投出四壞球次數觸身球次數、暴投次數、三振對方次數、被擊安打支數、失分與每場所面對打擊者人數等。本研究使用紀錄分析法，針對參1999年世界青年女子壘球錦標賽之十五支球隊，在預賽各場次之比賽紀錄進行分析，分析結果發現進入決賽之八支隊伍，均分別來自預賽A組八隊與預賽B組七隊中，投手投球能力較優之前四隊，顯示投手投球能力之優劣，是決定一支球隊能否自預賽打進決賽之主要關鍵，其角色足以影響比賽勝負。

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between pitching ability and game result in softball. Data were collected from games played by the 15 teams participating in the 1999 junior Women World Softball Championship. Analyses of the data revealed that the final eight teams had stronger pitching ability than those who were not in the finals. Pitching ability was showed to have a significant effect softball game results.
