適量運動有助於提昇免疫力,過度運動則可能導致免疫力下降。本研究蒐集感冒、不太運動與常運動同學唾液,以免疫酵素連結分析(ELISA)測量唾液中IgA抗體濃度。實驗結果發現感冒者唾液IgA抗體濃度明顯低於未感冒者,顯示IgA抗體濃度的減少與病毒抵抗力減弱罹患感冒有密切關係。另外,實驗結果也顯示運動量的突然增加,例如運動訓練,會短時問的造成受試者唾液IgA抗體濃度下降。推測此一造成免疫力下降的原因可能與增加運動量同時,壓力荷爾蒙腎上腺皮質素的上升,以及肌肉的細胞損傷所釋放的發炎相關分子可能有關。
