　　　　　基於國家人才培育的重要性觀點來看，資優低成就不但是社會的損失，也可能造成消極的自我概念和自尊心低落，而形成自我孤立(Whitmore, 1980)。綜合許多研究者發現，大多從個人因素、學校環境以及家庭環境三方面探討。低成就資優生是資優教育體制下產生的，學校老師是第一個發掘者，有必要必有義務為所謂低成就資優生尋適切的教育措施，如此才不違背教育的真意。
