According to every historical earthquake materials, there are many fires occurred after a heavy earthquake, especially in period of one hour after the quake. To face such more after-quake fires, local fire bureau certainly be unable to handle all of those. So, the loss caused by after-quake fires are much higher than that caused by usual fires. The main objective of the study is to know the degree of after-quake fires rescues by evaluating fire extinguishment ability of local fire bureau. By this, we can decide how much hardware and how many staff should we increase. For this reason, we take Puli town, the town of most death in disaster area, Nantou County, during 921 earthquakes, for instance and proceed in two ways. One way is to image calamity situation. The other way is to find the relation function between fire scope and extinguishment ability by regression. Finally, we can combine the two parts to analyse to estimate the extinguishment degree of after-quake fires roughly.
