The ancient Greeks start metaphysical investigation on being, whereas St. Augustine takes the divine being as the subject matters of metaphysics. As we will see, the process of interiority "Noverim me, noverim Te" is the very method for doing metaphysics. For St. Augustine, only when one returns to one's heart, can one come to encounter God. However, for human beings, God is ineffable, the proper name which humans can attribute to God is the name of "Ipsum esse".
