在臺灣大部皆的教師依賴教科書教學。因為技專校院的英文教師可以自行選擇上課所用的教材,所以技專校院內所用的英文教材在內容及程上有相當大的差異。教師的選材對學生的學習的深遠是不爭的事實。為了提升技專校院的英文教學成效,本文把研究重點放在教科書的選材上,希望藉由選擇適當、合宜的教材來提升技專校院的教學成效。文章首先探討過去多年來英語教學的兩天主流概念及其對英教學及教科書編排的影響。此外本文也回顧了與英語教書選材及評量標準相關的文獻,並在綜合考慮其可行性之後,提出一套具彈性且適用於技專校院的選材評估表供教師參考。
Most teachers in Taiwan rely heavily on textbooks when teaching. Since English teachers in technological colleges can choose whatever materials they want to use in their English classes, the contents and levels of textbooks used in technological colleges vary. It is without doubt that the selection of textbooks a teacher makes has a great effect on students’ learning. With a view t o enhancing students’ English proficiency during their education in technological colleges, this paper will first explore the tow mainstream concepts on English as a second/foreign language (ESL/EFL) teaching for the past decade and how they affect the outcome of teaching/learning and textbook syllabi. We will ten review literature regarding the selection of ESL textbooks and propose a more flexible as well as feasible set of textbook selection criteria for EFL teachers in technological colleges in Taiwan.
