舞臺燈光在現代戲劇的舞臺視覺呈現中扮演相當重要的角色，尤其隨著燈光硬體設備的發展精進，為戲場整體的視覺及表現手法提供了更多的可能性，對於燈光設計者來說也更具有挑戰性。 燈光在設計上的思考角度不應受限於技術考量，而應回歸到文本及整體製作的概念來建立設計邏輯，應該要從過去單為製造燈光效果的技術思考跳脫，進而去探究什麼才是演出所需要的美學觀點，從而作為寫實與寫意的式風格變化的理念基礎。 現代戲劇的包羅萬象，也同時提供燈光設計上由拘謹的照明與寫實功能中衍生出變化多端的寫意風格，本文將介紹燈光的配置方法並討論燈光如何與導演及其他視覺創作部門，共同營造造出舞臺的幻覺空間。

Stage lighting plays a very important role in the modern drama visual composition. Following the great progression of the theatrical lighting hardware, it provides the designers with greater challenge and possibilities. Lighting design thinking or ideas should not limit by the technology, it should look into escape form simply making light effects and designer should try to find out what is the aesthetic viewpoint for each production then it can be the solid ground for designer to develop one’s form in both realistic and symbolic lighting style. Modern drama contains all kinks of possibilities; it also provides lighting designer the key to transform one’s design form the basic illumination and realistic function into diversity composition. This thesis will introduce the basic lighting design methods and discussed how lighting designer collaborate with director and the other visual creative members; together build up the space of illusion for theatrical production.
