Stage lighting plays a very important role in the modern drama visual composition. Following the great progression of the theatrical lighting hardware, it provides the designers with greater challenge and possibilities. Lighting design thinking or ideas should not limit by the technology, it should look into escape form simply making light effects and designer should try to find out what is the aesthetic viewpoint for each production then it can be the solid ground for designer to develop one’s form in both realistic and symbolic lighting style. Modern drama contains all kinks of possibilities; it also provides lighting designer the key to transform one’s design form the basic illumination and realistic function into diversity composition. This thesis will introduce the basic lighting design methods and discussed how lighting designer collaborate with director and the other visual creative members; together build up the space of illusion for theatrical production.
