長久以來，比較政治和係學者對於主權家起源、演變未來發展上的解釋，儘管各不相同，但都忽略了時空因素的重要性，使得比較政治學過於強調國內層次因素，而國際關係學者過於強調國際層次因素。本文從歷史觀點出發，主張兩派的解釋力隨時空因素而異，並採用「非線性演化論」的觀點，來解釋時空因素的重要性，進而批判「國家空洞論」的說法。
The explanations developed form the perspectives of comparative politics and international relations with regard to the origin, evolution, and future development of the sovereign states have been very different for a long time. Nevertheless, both disregard the importance of the spatiotemporal factors. The result makes the comparativist’s explanation only focus on domestic factors, and also makes the IR theorist’s explanation overrate international facets. This article applies a historical perspective to investigate this problem, argues the explanatory power of both explanations varies according to the spatiotemporal factors are so important form an nonlinear evolutionary theory. Finally, a criticism on the “hollowness of the state” argument will be proposed based on the above conclusions.
