過去學者定義外表吸引力為因一個人的外表所引發他人心中喜愛的感覺(Morrow, 1990)。過去的研究發現,應徵者之外表吸引力會正面地影響面試官對他的評量。本研究延伸過去研究,在真實面談情境中,檢視面試官訓練的干擾角色。由來自於25家公司的43位面試官與151位應徵者中所蒐集的資料結果顯示,當面試官先前受過的面談訓練愈多時,應徵者外表吸引力與面試官評量之間的關係將愈弱。
Physical attractiveness has been defined as the degree to which one's facial image elicits favorable reactions from others (Morrow, 1990). Past research has found that applicants' physical attractiveness positively influence interviewer evaluations of the applicants. This study extends previous research by examining the moderating roles of interviewer training in real employment interviews for actual job openings. Results from 43 interviews and 151 applicants of 25 firms supported our hypotheses and showed that the more interview training the interviewer have received, the weaker the relationship between applicant physical attractiveness and interviewer evaluation.
