This study aims to understand: 1) current research trend of topic, field and focus in art education; 2) the relationship between topics and focus, topics and fields; 3) the differences among the topics from 2000 to 2004. Documental content analysis is used to investigate the data including selected thesis, journal articles, and one proceeding. A total of 360 topics and summaries were examined. The findings indicate that the topic of “Integration” is the most popular one. While “Teaching and Learning” is the next, and the following is “Computer Technology”. The main research focus is of curriculum. Most of the researches are situated in the schools. The research context is based on topics, focus and field. The time of publication is one of the factors that determine the research trend. In all, the research topic, focus, and field need to be further broadened.
