In this work the author investigates the challenges that bioethics, from its very beginnings, represents to society and religions. Namely, modern science has developed immensely, especially biomedicine and biotechnology, so that their achievements and applications require ethical responses. However, there is not just one bioethics, but at least two, of which New global bioethics or new paradigm is the one that is most propagated and listened to today. The author investigates the challenges that this very bioethics represents and goes on analysing the challenges of biotechnology. In the third part the author gives a short account of responses to such challenges given by the catholic theology and these responses are valid for the catholic Christianity.
