本文旨在提供澳洲中等教育及融合職業教育課程的政策制定、推動和進展，包含高中的學區和家長的學校選擇權、入學方式、學校證書和高中證書及其課程內涵、融入職業教育的課程改革等，盼其理念和實施能成為我國推動十二年國民基本教育的參考。文章第一部分介紹澳洲中等教育運作方式，第二部分說明澳洲中等教育及融合職業教育之改革。從澳洲中等教育及融合職業教育課程的政策制定到實施和評鑑過程，可看出幾點特徵：（1）國家教育目標有整體的思考，專責技職教育的單位發揮良好功效，各學校有清楚的實施指標辦法可依循，國家和地方層次透過組織成員有效及持續性的參與，達成政策的連貫性及有效的落實計畫；（2）中等教育融合職業教育的課程，重視學生輔導，與產業有密切配合，提供給學生彈性多元的管道選擇性。就業後若要再進大學，還可將職業教育成績列入大學入學成績計算；（3）透過明確、長期的資料收集、和監督，瞭解及評鑑學生適應工作的情形、困難，並回應到課程，更精進學生需求和能力成效，來做課程評鑑；（4）教育不僅提供訓練，更強調服務學生，有鞏固年輕人從學校轉換至職場路徑、轉換跑道、安排升學或再教育、及積極參與社會的一系列輔助措施；（5）投資經費龐大，能連結人力、課程、產業、督導，建立起整體網絡。
