Costume culture is a kind of living intellectual property. The structure of Taiwan's Han women's traditional trousers, described approvingly by one Japanese scholar in 1943 as being a wise and more successful design as they were unwaisted and easy to make. The research methods of this paper contain with the change is structure of the traditional trousers, objects analysis and fieldwork. Based on the study of ancient objects, pattern drafting and records of older generation's oral history a better understanding is garnered as to the manner of wearing and specific knowledge of traditional trousers. The ultimate goal of the study is to work cooperatively with a design studio to use the outline of tradition trousers along with their pattern, structure and special wearing manner to develop some modern new pants. The hope is to give traditional trousers new life and practical value. In addition, the response of the market will be tested and the experience obtained will be shared with students to give more insight into innovation in fashion design.
