The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the participating motive in sports related extracurricular clubs on college students around Miaoli area. Members of sports clubs from four different colleges in Miaoli are the subjects of this survey. There are 548 valid questionnaires on the survey. (700 copies distributed, 637 returned, and 152 invalid) The discoveries are as follows, (一) The top three motives for students to participate in sports clubs are "I enjoy the activity," "I'd like to relax the tension," and "I can be together with friends." (二) After analyzing the results through the methods of T-Test, five categories show differently between two genders. The five categories are, "I'd like to win," "I want to learn new skills, " "I enjoy the competitive matching," "I like this kind of challenge," and "I like this activity, and it is fun." (三) After analyzing the results on the weekly frequency, the duration, and the days for students who take part in the sport, it apparently shows diversity on every question from the weekly frequency part. After further investigation by the Scheffe methods, the real diversity could be understood. (四) Six different classifications are derived after the element-analyzing. The ix classifications are: 1. Intimacy and Skill Development. 2. Human Relationship. 3. Excitement and Challenge. 4. Fitness. 5. The Quality of the Sport. 6. Energy Releasing.
