The meaning of Institutional Repository is to preserve the research outputs of an Institution. The preserved contents as a whole will demonstrate the achievements and influences of this institution. As a result, the construction of institutional repository systems has been receiving attentions of research institutions. National Taiwan University (NTU) has formally or informally been publishing many research results. How to make these researches available to the public is the spiritual goal of NTU Repository (NTUR) project; how to implement a user-friendly system is the technical goal. This article first describes the construction and the experience of NTUR. The difficulties and the possible solutions including the selection of system platform, system customization, item acquisition, and feature localization are discussed as well.
