The phenomenal growth of the Internet has led to a significant increase in online trading, which in turn has created unique challenges. Online trading is an important e-commerce application. Today there are numerous ways to conduct business over the Internet utilizing online trading models where buyers and sellers meet online. In this article, we analyze these applications and introduce a new model that allows multiple buyers and sellers to conduct negotiations and trading. We present the system architecture, design, and implementation with a focus on the design of the client-server architecture under the object-oriented environment. Some unique features such as the negotiation mechanism and security and legal issues are also discussed.
