Abstract Courses relating to films and movies in General Education under the multi-teaching models, used to be regarded as trivial and an easy way to get credits due to the lack of effective course planning and the difficulty of getting a film professional as the course instructor. However, the diverse teaching resources and the massive information nowadays, provides music teachers more supplementary data to deepen and broaden the course content; thus, courses relating to film music are no longer seen as a subculture and have developed into very popular courses among students. This study mainly discusses the teaching effectiveness of applying film music to music appreciation courses. According to the course information on the schools’ webpages, the researcher classified and categorized all music appreciation courses relating to film music based on the school’s name, semester and course title, in order to analyze and examine the teaching of film music at each institution and university. The purpose of this study is to arouse attention, and provide data for future research.
