世界銀行2007《世界發展報告:東亞和太平洋地區》指出擴大資訊傳遞是提升各地青少年知識素養的良方,並鼓勵學校及大眾媒體透過資訊網路的傳播,教育青少年,培養他們未來就業的技能和促進社會平和發展。科技、知識經濟和全球化的腳步,雖是第三世界國家脫離貧困的一種方式,但同時可能造成社會群體之間更大的差距和不平等關係。全球化的知識經濟時代中,知識是一種文化經濟,也是一種可被優勢族群用來進行社會控制的工具。本文闡述文化融入課程為當前原住民族教育發展的趨勢,以澳洲昆士蘭省政府科學課程為藍本,提出初步融入原住民族文化於課程綱要的方案與教材形式,以論述文化應該融入科學課程,並提供改善原住民族學生科學教育領域學習困難的可行方式。
