The aim of this study is to investigate the recreational characteristics of degree theses and dissertations in Taiwan. The recreational characteristics utilized for this investigation including research topic, research objects, and methodology. Mata-analysis was utilized to analyze the recreational characteristic of degree theses from the Electronic Theses and Dissertations System. 150 recreational degree works were found. The findings, based on those 150 degree works, reveal that most of those degree works granted in north Taiwan and the occupation of those authors were teaching. Nevertheless, quantitative methodology was found utilizing in the most of those degree works. The research topics of those degree works were mostly found focusing on consumer behavior, in particular in ‘leisure participation'. Those findings direct future research should go beyond schools' recreational activities and should pay more attentions on general recreational activities (such as festivals or coffee shops).
