The new university legislation enforced in 1994 had strong influence on the administration and personnel structure of physical education in colleges and universities. The purpose of this study was to investigate the change of physical education curriculum in colleges and universities. Data were collected by questionnaire and compared with related studies in 1996 and 2001 in order to describe the changes throughout these years. The result revealed that more and more physical education curriculums were selective courses rather required. Traditional sports like table tennis, basketball, badminton and tennis are still the top ranking sports in all types of colleges and universities. However, conceptually based physical education curriculums were less. We suggest that colleges and universities should improve the safety of facilities. The teachers should improve the attractiveness of curriculum and introduce health related concepts to their students.
