本研究利用資料包絡分析法及Malmquist 生產力指數,以投入導向模式估計台灣 25 家上市鋼鐵廠商於2006 年及2007 年的生產效率。實證分析結果發現,台灣鋼鐵產 業於2006 年及2007 年約有近二分之一的廠商數屬於生產明顯非效率單位。相較於 2006 年,鋼鐵產業於2007 年的平均生產力略為下降,技術效率降低,有技術進步的 現象,且樣本廠商之間的各項效率值表現差異較大。25 家上市鋼鐵廠商中,小規模 (資本額在50 億元以下)的廠商較多,規模大小與生產效率高低似無顯著關係。
This paper aims to evaluate 25 domestic listed iron and steel firms’ production efficiency during the period from 2006 to 2007, based on input-orientation using Data Envelopment Analysis method to measure out a Malmquist productivity index. Empirical results found that half of those 25 Taiwan’s steel and iron firms belong to significantly production inefficient units in 2006 and 2007. With this being compared to that in 2006, iron and steel industry in 2007 shows a descending average productivity and technological efficiency, and a technological process phenomenon ; the discrepancy of efficiency values among the 25 sample firms is large. There are more small scale firms (with capital under five billion dollars) among the 25 listed firms, and there seems no significant relationship between the magnitude of scale and the height of production efficiency.
