本研究目的為探討纈草精油與穴位按摩對改善重症病人睡眠之成效，採實驗性研究設計，於某醫學中心加護病房採隨機分配收案，第1日為觀察日，實驗組則於收案後第2日進行神門、內關及湧泉穴之纈草精油穴位按摩，對照組仍採標準照護。研究進行時由護理人員於夜間進行睡眠觀察，研究工具為活動紀錄器測量睡眠時間，主觀睡眠以史丹福嗜睡量表了解兩組病人睡眠狀況。研究結果顯示纈草精油穴位按摩後，睡眠觀察之睡著時數增加；睡眠測量之睡眠總時間增加，清醒次數及清醒時間減少；主觀睡眠等級下降。本研究顯示藉由纈草精油穴位按摩可改善病人之睡眠時數及睡眠品質。
The purpose of this study was to explore the effectiveness of valerian acupressure on sleeping of critically ill patients. The study was a randomized clinical trial. The first day was observation. Experimental groups received valerian acupressure on the second day. Control groups received standard treatment. The measures included observation, Actigraphy, and the Stanford Sleepiness Scale. The result indicated that valerian acupressure patients' sleeping hours were increased and SSS grades were declined. The study supports that valerian acupressure could improve the sleeping time of critically ill patients.
