過去探討貿易與經濟成長關連性之文獻大都著重於出口部門的影響，本文除了檢驗臺灣、韓國、新加坡三個國家出口與經濟成長的線性因果關係外，進一步加入了進口的影響效果。為了避免虛假的因果關係，依生產函數的概念加入了資本與勞動兩項控制變數。在共整合檢定方面，我們以Pesaran et al.（2001 ）邊界檢定法與Johansen and Juselius（1990）最大概似檢定法兩種檢定方法進行雙重確認，檢定結果顯示出所有國家的變數間都存在一組長期均衡關係。因果關係檢定結果顯示，在長期時，臺灣不管是進口或出口擴張皆可刺激經濟成長，而在短期時經濟成長亦可帶動進口增加，韓國則是在短期支持出口及進口皆可引導經濟成長，新加坡則是不管是長期或短期，皆支持經濟成長可引導進口擴張。
