In this paper, a discussion of Taiwan's classical poetry will reveal the changes of sense on time and space in the modern time. Secondly, to bid farewell to ”pre-modern,” there must be some ”disenchantment” work, the traditional poet diverted people's superstition through poetry creation. In addition, most of the poets did not support the freedom of love and marriage. ”Hair cut” in the East Asian countries have different state of development. Taiwan and Japan are similar; it often linked ”hair cut” together with ”modernization” and formed a popular fashion. Finally, the comment on Japan and China from Taiwan's classical poets is based on the degree of civilization. These matters were not supported during that time, but some of them were already generally accepted by the populace (for example, the freedom of love and marriage). There are some bad customs which they had to want to reform, and now is still deeply entrenched in the community (such as extravagance and waste of Hungry Ghost Festival). They did not entirely resist the modern things, but they did not accept all of them, either, which demonstrated, complex and diverse situations.
