Since the Northern Expedition force led by the commander-in-chief Chiang Kai-Shek came to Hunan and Hubei from Guangdong in 1926 summer, its military and political status was seriously challenged which put it in harsh situation. Thus the force headed for Jiangxi province, which also opened the door of its heading for overwhelming power. After occupying Jiangxi province, Chiang Kai-Shek located the headquarters of the Northern Expedition force in Nanchang city, made Jiangxi the developing basis, and took various measures to strengthen his power. By establishing the political system, stabilizing the social and economic order in Jiangxi, and preaching the Three Principles of the People, he consolidated his control of Jiangxi. Furthermore, he renovated the force, worked out the following military programs, commanded the overall Northern Expedition from afar, and enlarged his military power from Jiangxi to including the five provinces in southeast China. During stationing in Jiangxi, Chiang Kai-Shek kept contacting the delegates from both Japan and wealthy lords in Jiangsu and Zhejiang province, thus beginning forming an alignment with them and enhancing his resolution to break up with Soviet Russia and Chinese Communist Party. He also aimed to enlist the firmest support of senior officials and his own party. Therefore, half year of stationing of Chiang kai-shek’s troops in Jiangxi province had witnessed his strengthening power and the beginning of his later national dominance.
