卡爾•拉內的神學人類學是在基督宗教的思想主流從神本主義轉向人本主義的時代背景下，借鑒康德的超驗方法和海德格爾的存在分析對傳統的神哲學理論，尤其是對聖多瑪斯的人學理論和聖依納爵的神秘主義加以改造的結果。與傳統的基督宗教哲學相比，這種作為基礎神學的人類學不是封信仰的外在形式的形上學反思，而是對作為信仰主體的人類超驗本質的探究，其關注的重點是人類傾聽聖言的可能性或超驗條件。
In the age when Christian mainstream Thoughts are turning from God-oriented to human-oriented, Karl Rahner's theological anthropology transforms St. Thomas's anthropology, Ignazio's mysticism, and other traditional theological philosophical theories with reference to Kant's transcendental method and Heidegger's existential analysis. in comparison with traditional Christian Philosophy, his anthropology as foundational theology is not a metaphysical reflection on the external forms of Christian belief but an inquire for the transcendental human nature as the real subject of Christian belief, and the focal point
