Purpose: This study aimed to explore the technical performance and characteristics of inertia of top three taekwondo team, Chinese Taipei, South Korea and Turkey in the 2009 Deaflympic Game and to provide possible references in future training and coaching strategy for our taekwondo athletes and coaches. Methods: Systematic observation was utilized to analyze the number of the technical movements of attack and the scoring rate and the loss in the total screenings 43 games and an extract of 31 games by video recording. Results: The findings are: First, South Korea and Turkey team had the highest rank of attacking in male (7.84 times) and female (12.89 times), respectively; Second, Chinese Taipei team had highest face attack rates (male: 22.64%, female: 17.65%); Third, In terms of attack formats, roundhouse kick is the most popular skill that was used in three teams. South Korea and Turkey team tended to use back kick and Chinese Taipei team preferred to use axe-kick as the second-beat attacks; Forth, South Korea and Chinese Taipei team had The highest rate of scoring in male (25%) and female (18.38%), respectively; Fifth, South Korea and Chinese Taipei team had The lowest rate of being scoring in male (0.71) and female (0.19), respectively. Conclusion: It showed that the rates of scoring are the key of winning. Chinese Taipei team had higher rates on face attack rate than South Korea and Turkey, which fits the trends of international techniques. In addition, we coaches and athletes should notice these interference tactics which South Korea male athletes tends to block opponents attacks by using intentional falls and to recovery.
