Cao Zhenji (1634-1698), with the literary name of Shengjie, Shengliu, or Shi-an, was an imperial scholar at the third year under the reign of Emperor Kangxi in Qing Dynasty, and he was good at poetry. His past-meditating Ci poems have a unique artistic style and features of thought. Although he did not belong to any sect in the Ci poetry world in Early Qing Dynasty, he created a style of his own, and was deeply approved by official and folk Ci poetry worlds. The people who researched Cao's Ci in the past rarely discussed from the aspect of thought; therefore, the research took the past-meditating Ci poems collected in Cao Zhenji's "Kexue Ci" as the research subjects, and explored the Confucian and Taoist thoughts, and his commitment by reviewing the criticisms on historical figures and events in Cao's Ci poems.
