Assaults on police officers occur when the police have negative interactions when dealing with dangerous targets. The police’s performance depends on: (a) the capability of enforcing laws and regulations; (b) their work attitude; (c) sensitivity to danger; (d) the quality of their equipment. The dangers of the target can be seen in: (a) his/her viciousness; (b) the number of persons and organizational force; (c) the time and environment; and (d) outside harassment. When serious assaults on a police officer occur, it is more likely that it is the product of a negative interaction between highly dangerous individuals and an incapable police force, rather than between highly dangerous individuals and a capable police force. Even when incapable police confront less dangerous individuals, frivolous assaults on police officers could still happen. The occurrence of assaulting police case is contingent on the capability of the police to carry out their duties.
