Magazine plays an important role in mass media industry. "Eastern Western Monthly Magazine" which was initiated by a German missionary Karl Frederich August Gützlaff in 1833 is regarded as the first Chinese journal published in China. This magazine has been considered as precious materials in providing Chinese readers more comprehensive knowledge of the geography. The typical significance of this magazine in the course of Chinese and Western culture exchanges is undoubtedly. With monthly updated world geography articles, Chinese readers gradually realized the value of modern science and western civilization and the intellectuals were inspired to be self-reflection or change their traditional worldview. After analyzing four maps in "Eastern Western Monthly Magazine", it is clear to learn that Karl Frederich August Gützlaff rearranges the map by variety of themes to highlights to emphasize that the map is not objective, but with the consciousness and sense of the creators. This study focus on introducing how can the modern West power influence Chinese traditional worldview thru analyzing the emphasized map awareness and geography published in "Eastern Western Monthly Magazine".
