The purpose of this study is to understand the present situation of organizations and activities of craft unions in Yunlin County and investigate labor relations of craft workers and the distribution of different kinds of craft workers in every township. This study has three analysis methods: 1. 'Questionnaire of the Distribution of Different Kinds of Craft Workers in Yunlin County' to investigate large-sized craft unions; 2. 'in-depth interview' with 16 persons working in craft unions to find out organizations and activities of craft unions; 3. 800 copies of the questionnaire with random sampling and 779 retrieved, using statistical software to do descriptive analysis and distributing numbers of times. The findings are: 1. in distributions of craft workers, workers are mainly at urban townships, rural townships secondary and townships along the coast the last. 2. In organizations of craft unions, the real leaders of unions are mostly secretaries. Small-sized unions jointly rent same offices and hire part-time officers. The property of unions is only official equipment. There is no competition of union elections because of lower participation of members. The interaction between unions and members is founded on relative activities. Besides being insuring units of the labor insurance system, unions conduct the group accident insurance and the labor education. 3. In activities, unions handle tourist events for members and their dependents, provide fringe benefits of members and scholarship of members' children and promote national labor regulations. 4. In labor relations of craft workers, the average working days of workers are 23 days per month and the average incomes are 28,312 NT dollars monthly. There are nearly 80% of interviewees approving of craft unions as insuring units. The services of unions are expected to have more members' welfare, a convenient office location for members and reasonable membership fees.
