The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of Mach Drills training on the promotion of speed and power performance parameters of junior track and field athletes. In study, seven male and seven female track and field athletes from Jincheng junior high school were recruited as subjects (age 14.07±0.83 years; height 165.07±9.60 cm; weight 54.93±10.30 kg). This fourteen track and field athletes were all eighth-grade and ninth-grade Students. All of them were received one to two years of athletic training and proficient in the elementary actions of Mach Drills. In the process of experiment, pre-tests of relating tests were carried out before eight weeks training firstly. Then, all subjects were trained by the training project. Lastly, post-tests the same with pre-tests were executed and all data of pre-tests and post-tests were gathered to analyze progressively. Results show: (I) After eight weeks Mach Drills training, subjects' power of lower limb and the speed of sprint were progressing significantly. It meant the training project in this study was helpful for the upgrading of power and speed of sprint of junior track and field athletes. (2) After eight weeks Mach Drills training, progressive magnitudes between male and female were not different significantly. It meant the training project in this study was suitable for male and female. (3) After eight weeks Mach Drills training, the progressive magnitudes of speed tests were bigger than the progressive magnitudes of power tests. It meant Mach Drills training profited more on the speed of junior track and field athletes than on the power of junior track and field athletes.
