The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of picture books on children’s emotion reflection. In this study, the children are those who were ever living in Morakot disaster area. They are also the students of Wawa Kindergarten in Lin Bian township, Pingtung county. Referred to the Popular Science Education, this study selects the science-related picture books which include “Rain” and “Wind” components to design curriculum for the kindergarten children. The children receive this study’s curriculum teaching for four times in total. In addition, according to the literature, this study designs a “Question Outline” as a tool to collect data from the children before and after delivering teaching content. Then, the children’s descriptive responses are analyzed as well as interpreted to present their understanding to the teaching content. As a result, this study finds that through this study’s curriculum with the picture books the children are able to confidently confront negative emotion by themselves. They are also able to shift their negative emotions into positive when facing different events. Other than that, the children are brave to express their views to the events and freely share their feeling about them. Furthermore, the children’s ability of emotion reflection is increased after receiving this curriculum. They are also able to find effective strategies to solve problems. Finally, some recommendations and suggestions are made at the end of this study for future educators and researchers.
