Nearly 20 years, with economic growth, national income increase, plus two days off a week, make domestic tourism drive motel growth that prevailed. Due to the low investment amount compared to the General Hotel, together with leisure and special operations targets, and high return on investment profits, Motel has increased in amount. But because of different customs and operating patterns changed, motels have a negative image. Even though has a negative impression, but there are always new operators generated in the market. Why companies are willing to invest in motel industry? This dissertation discuss the operation motivation and issue for motel. This study used survey approach, targeted at the Kaohsiung City motel. Survey results is, finding the main motivations for motel investment and management related to his business attempt, entrepreneurship, such as go to serve the community, high ratio of room rented, interest, and other relevant, whereas lower investment amount, small risk is secondary importance. We can find the issue on motel management were that , high rates of employee turnover causing by motel image and characteristic of the properties causing high own capital requirements, meanwhile vulnerable to the economic depression and the streamlining of human resources and emphasis on privacy, motel is easy to be gangster crime-prone sites.
