本研究其目的為：一、探討臺北縣羽球運動之時代背景。二、探討臺北縣羽球運動社會之發展情形。三、探討臺北縣羽球運動學校之發展情形。臺北縣自民100（2011）年升格為直轄市後，命名為新北市，故本文以新北市撰寫，擬以歷史研究法、文獻分析法並輔以訪談，蒐集1980年新北市體育會羽球委員會成立至2010年，此段時期有關於新北市羽球運動發展之相關文獻，並加以分析探討，並向下扎根欲求學校羽球發展更加完善，進而影響社會體育之完整性。以下為新北市羽球發展整體情形：一、民86（1997）年至民99（2010）年，相當於湧進三個臺東縣人口數進入新北市，學校數量也持續增加，經濟逐年成長，使人民的生活水準逐步提升，羽球運動也逐漸蓬勃發展。二、新北市體育會羽球委員會成立於民70（1981）年至今，歷經兩位主任委員。其協助發展羽球運動、辦理全國性及國際性之羽球比賽及促進國際體育交流，藉以提高羽球技術水準，增進國民健康，發揚運動，目前台灣約有近200萬人把羽球當作健身與休閒活動。三、民88（1999）年至民91（2002）年國中、小陸續成立球隊。民92（2003）年度至民95（2006）年度國中、小球隊逐漸變少，因礙於政府經費不足，與學校場地老舊關係與專業教練數量不足，因此許多學校球隊慢慢解散。

The purposes of the research are: 1. researching the background of badminton in New Taipei City, 2. researching the general development of badminton in New Taipei City, 3. and researching the general situation in schools in New Taipei City.1. From 1997 to 2011, there were more than triple population of Taitung County moving into New Taipei City, and the amount of schools was increasing. The economy was gradually growing, making the life standard get better, Further, the sport of badminton was also developing prosperously little by little.2. The Badminton Committee of New Taipei City PE Cooperation was found in 1981, until now it went through two spokesmen. It helped develop the sport of badminton, held the national and international badminton contests, and facilitated the international interactions in PE. By these, we can evaluate the standard of badminton techniques, improving national health, advocating sports. Nowadays, there are nearly two million people taking badminton as an exercising and leisure activity.3. From 1999 to 2002, the high schools and elementary schools set badminton school teams one by one. From 2003 to 2006, these schools teams were disappearing because of the lack of budget and the number of professional coaches, and the field of sport in school was too old. Therefore, many school teams dismissed.
