Bilingual education is supposed to be a kind of remediation approach by which two teaching languages are used to help students learn better. However, the bilingual education in Taiwan doesn't emphasize the equality of education opportunity but the teaching approach that teachers use both the languages, Chinese and English, to work with students in class. Living in such a globalized world, the excellence of communicating in both Chinese and English is the keystone to the employment and promotion in career. There are two kinds of bilingual education: additive one and subtractive one. The former emphasizes the usage of both the languages, and the latter helps students skill in the second language instead of their mother tongue. The author sorts out the bilingual education in Taiwan and gets three findings from the collected empirical researches. Finally, the author recommends three suggestions to classroom teachers. It includes: 1) adopting additive bilingual education in class; 2) developing students' multicultural perspectives; 3) the government should face the demands for bilingual education and increase investment.
