本文探討特雷西有關宗教交談的主要理論。進而反思宗教交談的準則，及其當注意、該戒慎處理的地方。而在進入狹義的宗教交談之前，本文將先呈現他對一般性的交談的看法，二者都關係到多元性的事實。若只有單一，是不需要對話的。因而對話寓含他人、聆聽、理解與回應。本文所用的方法是，藉由握緊特雷西宗教交談理論中的幾個主要概念，來一窺其理論發展之全貌。這幾個概念就是：詮釋學、他者、先知傳統與神秘傳統，以及「在限度上」的宗教對話（religious dialogue ”at the Limit”）。

This article investigates David Tracy's theory on religious dialogue. We ask: Is there any principle for religious dialogue? Or is there anything that we should pay heed to before starting a dialogue with others? Before we discuss Tracy’s idea on religious dialogue, we first present his opinion on dialogue (conversation) in general. Both are related to the reality of plurality. Dialogue presumes the others, listening, understanding and responding. The method we use in this article is thus, by presenting some of his main ideas on religious dialogue to review the whole spectrum of its development. These ideas are: hermeneutics, the others, prophetic tradition and mystical tradition, and religious dialogue ”at the limit”.
