The focus of the study aims at how the image of servicewomen was represented. Using the sample of 180 items from four newspapers in Taiwan over the period of 2005 to 2012, the research analyzed the model of the news coverage as well as the way the discourse was shaped by means of content and fantasy theme analysis. The media reproduced the myth of supermen and outer beauty in the news reports, which resulted in the distortion of the servicewomen's image. In the light of the result, the media is expected to take the gender-imbalanced issue among journalists seriously. Most importantly, it suggested that the research be seen as a reminder that the military news agency ought to confront the false representation of the servicewomen and thus the policies pertinent to gender equality could be carried out thoroughly.
